The alarm-vs-warning distinction in water networks

Most water monitoring is threshold monitoring: when a level crosses a fixed line, an alarm fires. By then the water is already high. The alarm is true, and late.

A warning is different in kind. A system that has learned a site's normal behavior — its daily rhythm, its storm response, its seasonal drift — can flag when the network starts behaving differently, before any threshold is crossed. On a live deployment, HydroView™ flagged a coherent change in network behavior days before it was operationally obvious, with no labels and no configured failure modes.
